3 Palestinians killed by Israeli bombing in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Three Palestinians were killed on Thursday in an Israeli bombing on a house in the Tulkarm refugee camp in the northern West Bank, according to the Palestinian official news agency WAFA.
WAFA reported that Israeli military vehicles also bulldozed infrastructure throughout the camp, vandalizing public and private property, including homes and shops in central areas.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that the airstrike targeted armed militants during an operation by the Israeli Air Force in Tulkarm. He added that the operation involved clashes with militants and efforts to clear roads in the area.
As tensions continue in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank has seen escalating violence between the Israeli army and Palestinians. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported on Wednesday that Israeli airstrikes in the West Bank have resulted in an average of one Palestinian death per day in August.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, at least 128 Palestinians, including 26 children, have been killed in airstrikes in the West Bank, according to the UN. ■
